A Simple Home Detox Over The Weekend

Have you noticed that there are those days or times when the brain seems to be sluggish – moving in slow motion – not really responding. Feeling lethargic? Are you at times, burdened with the mere thought of having to walk up a flight of stairs?
And then have you also experienced those moments when even your best outfits don’t work their magic on you and your mood - you just don’t feel pretty enough? All that scouting and scouring of shelves for health and beauty products have come to naught – the mood and the way you feel about yourself does not change! Chances of mood revival seem slim!
Maybe, just maybe, the answer lies right within your home. And within you! The answer lies in detoxification. Not the detoxification that you probably imagine. A more holistic approach.
Contrary to popular opinion, detoxification is not just about depriving yourself of food or going on a water diet or a liquid diet. Nor is it only about enveloping yourself in a room full of steam. In fact, we must look at detoxification as a holistic approach – one that looks at diet, fitness, and even your mind!
Try this holistic method just for a week – and discover a different you! A revived, more energietc and vivacious you! The beauty of this method is it can be done at home, with all the necessary components and ingredients available in your home itself!
Imagine a humble loofah, a brush, some scented candles, maybe a scented herbal tea and loads of me-time, all conspiring to give you a different kind of a detox that you had never realized was available to you all the time! A detox that would help you rejuvenate, replenish and relax!

A good idea would be to start around the weekend – maybe on a Friday. Kick off your detox with a day that involves light eating – fruits and salads. And lots of water. Consume these through the day.
Come nigh time -
Pick that loofah or a brush, and slowly massage yourself all over. Use slow and long strokes. Don’t make it vigorous. Just a relaxed treatment to a body that deserves some gentle treatment at night. Move in one direction, starting from the top, all the way to your pelvic region.

Refresh yourself with a light tea and then soak yourself in warm water – with a few drops of fragrant aromatic oil added. Light a scented candle, to create the mood. Enjoy for a half an hour and slowly add cool water, till your bath becomes cold.
You have just taken the initial steps to a new health and beauty routine. This has helped you stimulate the blood vessels and you are now ready for bed – where a relaxed sleep beckons. Dry yourself well and snuggle into the cozy bed that waits.
As you wake up fresh the next day, begin with a glass or cup of hot lemon water. Go for a walk, and breathe deeply during this walk. Give yourself a steam bath, and if possible, take a swim.
Ask your partner for a massage.
And end the day’s beauty and detox regimen with the dry loofah massage followed by the bath again!
Your Sunday should be a repeat of the previous day’s activities. But this time, you will add another activity. You will pick up that piece of paper and pen and write down a list of people and other things that don’t give you good vibes – that make things toxic for you. Try and assess the effect they have on you and the extent to which they affect you. Ask yourself and reflect on how you will deal with these, to lessen the toxic effect.
Pamper yourself again and ideally do a bit of meditation.
